SUMMARY:Norfolk Land Trust Trail Race Series/Haystack Mountain Challenge
DESCRIPTION:CLASSIC 5K\nA challenging and scenic race through picturesque Barbour Woods. The course is a mixture of single and double track. Climb up Beech Hill for a view of Haystack Mountain\, run on carriage roads beside historic Killarney Bridge\, descend down the dry dam to a flat stretch of railroad bed\, ascend through woodlands and finally along a gladed wetland\, known as the Swamp Trail to the finish.\nNote: This course usually measures at about 3.3mi. \nHAYSTACK 10K\nWant to go a little longer? Try adding a challenging loop over Haystack Mountain. This course begins on the same route as the 5K\, but jumps off of the Sunset Trail onto the South Dam\, crosses Route 272N and ascends through a grassy meadow onto an intense single track to summit at Norfolk’s iconic Haystack Mountain Tower. Descend down the mountainside on a carriage path to meet up with a single track winding along the mountainside bringing you back to the park’s main entrance where you will cross over the South Dam and finish up the 5k course.\nNote: This course usually measures at about 5.9mi. \nHAYSTACK MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE HALF MARATHON\nThe Haystack Challenge is an exciting and grueling half marathon. With 2000+ feet of elevation gain this course is built around the 10k route with the addition of some lesser-known trails adjacent to Barbour Woods and Haystack Mountain; including special access to private paths only allowed during the event.\nThe course includes a run along scenic ascent and a descent down a winding single track back to the start. From there you follow the 10k course to Haystack and break off onto public and private trails. Two trips up and down Haystack link you back into the 10k course to the finish.

DESCRIPTION:The Ivoryton Pumpkin Chase is a 5K Road/Trail Race and a Kiddie Pumpkin Fun Run to benefit the Ivoryton Library and takes place in peak foliage season of southern New England. The course begins along North Main Street for approximately ½ mile before turning left down Falls River Drive. At the one mile mark the course enters the Falls River Preserve for a 1.1 mile trail loop that meanders along the Falls River.

SUMMARY:Bimblers Bluff 5K
DESCRIPTION:The Bimblers Bluff 50k is an off road foot race that starts at Guilford Lakes School\, 40 Maupas Rd\, Guilford and passes through several inter-connected woodland preserves in southern Connecticut. Consisting entirely of rolling forest roads or single track that can be extremely rocky\, the course will provide a true test of the runner’s fitness and mental stamina. The course is unusual for an event of this type in Connecticut as it doesn’t require participants complete the same loop multiple times. It’s intended to be both an adventure and a challenge and you should only consider entering this race if you are confident you have sufficient running experience such as having completed a recent road or trail marathon. If you have any questions or concerns about your ability to complete this race but would still like to enter\, please contact the race director.
